Removal of a cranked shaft

Removal of a cranked shaft possibly only from the engine taken from the car. It is meant that a flywheel / a driving disk, a cogwheel of a cranked shaft, a gas-distributing belt, the case pallet, a maslozabornik, the oil pump, a maslootrazhatel and (on B18B1 engines) shatunno-piston assemblies are already dismantled. Before removal of a cranked shaft it is necessary also отболтить and to separate from the block of cylinders the holder of a back epiploon. |

1. Before starting extraction of a cranked shaft from the engine, measure its size axial люфта. Fix DTI measuring instrument on the block to coaxially cranked shaft, having rested it a plunzher against a cheek of one of cranks or a pin end face (see an accompanying illustration) the last. |

Covers of radical bearings and their connecting bridge should remain on the places, and their fixture will tighten with demanded effort. |
2. Push a cranked shaft against the stop back and null the device indicator. Now push a shaft in an opposite direction and consider the measuring instrument indication. The size of a free wheeling of a shaft in the longitudinal direction also is its axial люфт. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications. If люфт exceeds the maximum admissible value, check on existence of signs of excessive wear persistent surfaces of a shaft. In the absence of obvious signs of wear, installation of new persistent washers usually helps to correct a situation.

3. In the absence of near at hand tsiferblatny measuring instrument it is possible to use usual shchupy lezviyny type. Accurately shift a shaft against the stop forward on the engine, then define size of the formed gap between a cheek of a crank and a forward wall of the persistent (fourth) radical bearing, having densely planted in it the corresponding thickness an edge (I) щупа (see an accompanying illustration). |

4a. Besides serial number on covers marking in the form of cast shooters is usually provided. On correctly established covers of the shooter should specify in the direction of a belt of a drive of GRM. In stages (on 1/4 turns for an approach) weaken bolts of fastening of covers of radical bearings and/or their connecting bridge so that there was a possibility of their reversing manually. |

4b. On the Civic models check covers of radical bearings on existence on them adjusting marking. In case of need put marking independently by means of a center punch. |

4c. On the Integra models check covers of radical bearings on existence on them adjusting marking. Covers should be numbered consistently in the direction in front back on the engine (see an accompanying illustration). |
5. Remove covers of radical bearings or assembly of their bridge. On the Integra models it is accurate обстучите the remained covers a hammer with soft brisk for the purpose of their separation from the engine block. In case of need use as levers fixing bolts. Try not to drop loose leaves.
6. Carefully take a cranked shaft from the engine (use the help of the assistant). Track, that loose leaves of radical bearings remained in the beds in the block and covers. Establish covers on the block, then by hand tighten bolts of their fastening. |
