Check of a condition of the water pump Failure of the water pump is capable to cause the most serious consequences, up to complete jamming of the engine as a result of an overheat. There are two ways of check of serviceability of functioning of the water pump without its removal from the engine. The defective pump without fail is subject to replacement on new, or restored. The water pump is equipped control (or ventilating) with openings (see an illustration below).
In case of epiploon failure from openings cooling liquid starts to exude. Prepare a pocket small lamp and a small pocket mirror, then uncover a belt of a drive of GRM. By means of a lamp and a mirror find control openings from below on a back part of the pump and check, whether liquid exudes through them. At failure of bearings of a shaft of the pump in engine operating time in its forward part there can be a howling sound which should not be confused to the whistle published by a driving belt at weakening of effort of its tension. Wear of the bearing can be revealed on existence люфта when rocking a pulley of the pump (do not forget to switch off before the engine).
