Besstupenchaty variator (separate models)

The original design of the besstupenchaty variator established on Honda cars, allows to change smoothly transfer number of transmission without a rupture of a stream of capacity. Management of a variator is carried out by the electronic block which provides high precision of regulation of transfer number and high fuel profitability of the car.

Positions of the lever of the selector of ranges


On a control panel the indicators allowing easily to supervise position of the selector of ranges of a besstupenchaty variator and the included operating mode of a variator are located.


The indicator D lights up for some seconds at ignition inclusion (a key will turn in the lock in situation II). If the indicator D blinks during car movement (irrespective of position of the lever of the selector of ranges), it indicates possible malfunction of transmission. In this case it is necessary to avoid sharp dispersals of the car and to address on HUNDRED Honda for check and transmission repair.


Depending on car updating the lever of the selector of ranges can have five or six fixed provisions. At engine start the lever of the selector should be only in situation P (Parking) or N (Neutral). R (Parking)

In this position of the lever of the selector the target shaft of transmission is mechanically blocked. Always turn on the selector lever in situation P (Parking) at switching off or engine start. To deduce the selector lever from situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press a brake pedal, previously having released an accelerator pedal. Press the button of a clamp located sideways on the handle of the lever, and switch off the lever from situation P (Parking).

If on the car equipped with the device of an unblocking of the lever of the selector, after all specified above actions still it is not possible to deduce the lever from situation P (Parking), it is necessary to release the selector lever, having used the ignition key, see. Automatic transmission.

To turn on the lever of the selector of ranges in situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press the clamp button also. In order to avoid breakage of transmission turn on the lever in situation P (Parking) only after a full stop of the car.

On the car equipped with the device of an unblocking of the lever of the selector. You can take out a key from the ignition lock, only if the lever of the selector is in situation P (Parking).

R (Backing)

Ways of switching of the lever of the selector of ranges between provisions R (Backing) and R (Parking) are described above. N (Neutral)

Switching of modes of functioning of transmission is made by means of the rotary handle which is located about the lever of the selector of ranges. The included mode is reflected by the corresponding indicator in a control panel.

Normal mode

It is intended for primary use in usual service conditions of the car. A control system of a besstupenchaty variator, regulating transfer number of transmission, ensures functioning of the engine in an optimum range of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft. To inclusion of a normal mode there corresponds average position of the handle of the switch.

Sports, (dynamic) mode

Provides use of wider range of transfer numbers of a besstupenchaty variator for improvement of acceleration performance of the car. To include this mode, turn the switch handle in situation S. The sports (dynamic) operating mode of transmission can be switched on and off at any time.

Economic mode

Provides use of the top part of a range of transfer numbers of a besstupenchaty variator for improvement of fuel profitability of the car. To include this mode, turn the switch handle in situation Е. The economic operating mode of transmission can be switched on and off at any time.

Situation L (Nizhny поддиапазон)

To transfer the selector lever from situation D (Movement) to situation L, press the button of a clamp located sideways of the handle of the lever. The range of L is recommended to be used for improvement of traction properties of the car when overcoming liftings, and also for implementation of more intensive braking by the engine on descents. For sharp dispersal of the car at transmission work in a range of D or L press an accelerator pedal against the stop. Thus the besstupenchaty variator will pass to area of the lowest transfer numbers.

Cars with six-band transmission

Situation D (Movement)

In this situation the lever of the selector should be constantly at car movement in usual road conditions. A control system of a besstupenchaty variator, automatically regulating transfer number of transmission, supports operation of the engine in an optimum range of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft. If the engine is not heated-up to normal working temperature, transmission will work at the lowered transfer numbers that provides faster warming up of the engine.

Situation S (The lowered range)

At turning on of the lever of the selector in situation S besstupenchaty automatic transmission works at the lowered transfer numbers in comparison with a range of D. The range of S is recommended to be used at movement in the hilly district and in a dense transport stream with frequent delays and car stops.

Situation L (Nizhny поддиапазон)
