Removal, installation and adjustment of provision of a cowl

Removal and installation

The panel of a cowl has decent weight therefore it is necessary to get support of the assistant.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Cover wings with special overlays or simply old blankets for protection them from damage to process of dismantle of a cowl.

2. A marker or a chertilka lead round heads of loopy bolts for a guarantee of correctness of fastening of a cowl at assembly (see an accompanying illustration).

3. Disconnect all cables and the wires disturbing to removal of a cowl.
4. Ask the assistant to take a cowl and turn out fastening bolts to it loopy levels. Remove adjusting washers (if those are provided) and at once put on them back the bolts which should be combined in the organized order for the purpose of a guarantee of installation them at assembly strictly on the former places.
5. Remove a cowl.
6. Installation is made upside-down. At installation to the place of an old cowl with the correct arrangement of fixing bolts and adjusting washers no problems with its alignment in an aperture of an impellent compartment should arise. If cowl replacement is made, it is necessary to make adjustment of its situation.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Adjustment of provision of a cowl in an aperture of an impellent compartment is made by shift in the relevant party of loopy levels after weakening of their fixture.
2. For determination of size of shift lead round levels of loops a marker.
3. Weaken fixture and shift loops in the demanded direction (carry out adjustment without hurrying up, in stages, shifting levels of loops gradually for each approach). Again tighten bolts, lower a cowl and check correctness of an arrangement it in an aperture.

4. Correction of situation (in the vertical and horizontal planes) assemblies of a latch of the lock of a cowl on a basic plate of a radiator can be in case of need executed – the cowl should be closed densely and fall aflush with surfaces of wings. For adjustment of the lock lead round heads of bolts of fastening of assembly of a latch a marker or a chertilka, then weaken bolts and displace a latch in the demanded direction (see an accompanying illustration). On termination of adjustment strongly tighten fixing bolts.

5. In summary adjust the provision of rubber pillows of a cowl on the panel of a support of a radiator (see an accompanying illustration), achieving that the cowl in a closed position appeared aflush with wings.

6. Assembly of a latch of the lock of a cowl should periodically (at the same time with loops – see. Service of loops and car locks) to be greased with greasing on a lithium basis in order to avoid jamming and fast wear.
