General information

The catalytic converter is a component of systems of decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases, is included in structure of system of release and serves for decrease in issue in the atmosphere of toxic components. On cars considered in the real Management catalytic converters of two types are used. The ordinary oxidizing converter allows to lower the content in the fulfilled gases of hydrocarbons and carbon monooxide. Check

1. Each time when the car for any reason rises over the earth, examine the converter on existence of signs of mechanical damages, traces of leaks and corrosion development. Check a condition of welded seams and reliability of a tightening of flange bolts of fastening of the device to sections of system of production of the fulfilled gases. The defective catalytic converter is subject to replacement.
2. Despite reliability of a design of the converter, there is rather high probability of its obstruction. The simplest way of check of passableness of the converter is check with use of the vacuum gage:
   a) Connect the vacuum gage to the inlet pipeline;
   b) Having opened a butterfly valve, lift frequency of rotation of the engine to 2000 rpm;
   c) Quickly dump gas;
   d) If passableness of the converter is not broken, depression should fall quickly no more than to 51 mm of mercury. concerning norm;
   e) If the measuring instrument does not register depression in 127 mm of mercury. either above, or quickly hesitates round the highest value before returning to initial, therefore, passableness of system of production of the fulfilled gases or the catalytic converter is broken.
