Check of serviceability of a condition and replacement of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid of the engine (eats)

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The eats sensor represents a termistor (the resistor which resistance changes with temperature change). Change of resistance of the sensor makes direct impact on amplitude of the signal which is given out by the sensor on ESM/RSM. Thus with temperature REDUCTION resistance of the sensor INCREASES, and on the contrary. At existence in memory ESM/RSM of the corresponding code of malfunction (see. System of onboard diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions) should be checked a condition of a chain eats and if electroconducting as it should be, to replace the sensor.

2. Check of the sensor is made by measurement of its resistance (see an accompanying illustration) in a cold condition (10°С÷27°С). then start the engine and warm up it to normal working temperature. Resistance of the sensor should fall.

3. Measure supply voltage on the plug of a red-black wire of the socket of electroconducting of the sensor at the included ignition (do not start the engine). The result of measurement should make about 5.0 In, otherwise check a wire on break on a site from the sensor to ESM/RSM.

Replacement

Before starting procedure performance, wait complete cooling of the engine.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installation of the new sensor it is necessary to wind its carving part with a teflon sealing tape (tape FUM).
2. Wring out a lock uvula, then accurately turn out the sensor. For the purpose of minimization of losses of cooling liquid screw the new sensor as soon as possible.

Address with the eats sensor as it is possible more carefully as its damage is capable to make appreciable impact on power supply system functioning as a whole.


3. Installation is made upside-down. In summary check level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see. Head Routine maintenance).
