Ignition system – the general information

In the transistor electronic system of ignition used on considered models of cars, higher is generated, in comparison with characteristic for systems of ignition of usual type, tension. Be attentive, observe all necessary precautionary measures.


The programmed system of ignition (PGM-IG) on the basis of the microprocessor provides continuous optimization of installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition depending on turns of the engine, temperatures of cooling liquid, the provision of a butterfly valve and depth of depression in the inlet pipeline. All necessary data arrive on the module of management (ESM) from the corresponding information sensors, such as the TDC/CKP/CYP sensor, the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve (TPS), the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid and the sensor of absolute pressure in the pipeline (MAR). At an engine warming up, its work on single turns and under loading various installations of a corner of an advancing of ignition are used. The corresponding adjustments are carried out by PGM-IG system. The structure of system of ignition also includes the ignition switch/lock, the storage battery, the ignition coil, the distributor, a set of candles and VV of wires (see illustrations).

The ignition distributor on all models is put in action from a camshaft (on the Integra models – from an inlet camshaft). Correction of an advancing of ignition is carried out by the electronic module of management (ESM). On all models the distributor is equipped with the sensor of an angle of rotation. The description of procedures of problem diagnostics and check of serviceability of functioning of TDC/CKP/CYP sensors is provided in Head of the Control system by the engine.
