The electric drive of window regulators – general information and check of serviceability of functioning

The control system of functioning of window regulators consists of switches of management, driving electromotors, regulators of window regulators, mechanisms of lowering-podnimaniya of glasses and connecting electroconducting. Electromotors of a drive of window regulators are located in car doors.

Management of window regulators can be carried out from a driver's place by means of the main switch, or by means of manipulations with individual door switches. Each of glasses is equipped with the individual driving electromotor of reversive type. Switching of a key of the switch polarity of connection of the motor and, as a result, the direction of its rotation changes.

The contour is protected by a safety lock and the chain breaker. Each of electromotors is in addition equipped with the individual breaker preventing possibility of a conclusion out of operation of all system at jamming of separate glass.

The electric drive of window regulators functions only at the included ignition. In addition on many models possibility of blocking of window regulators back (and sometimes and a lobby passenger) doors from the main switch is provided. Do not forget about this function at check of refusals of screen wipers.

Described procedures have the most general character therefore if their performance does not allow to reveal unequivocally a cause of failure, drive away the car for more detailed diagnostics on car repair shop.

  • In default window regulators always first of all check a condition of a safety lock and the chain breaker.
  • If window regulators of back doors cope only from the main switch, check conductivity of the blocking switch in the released condition. The faulty switch replace.
  • Check an electroconducting condition on a chain site between switches and the assembly block of safety locks. Make necessary repair.
  • At refusal of functioning of the main switch only one of glasses, check serviceability of operation of this window regulator from other switch.

    The last does not treat a window regulator of a driver's door.


  • If the same window regulator regularly works from other switch, check conductivity of the switch.
  • If the switch as it should be, check on break and short circuit a chain on a site between the suspected switch and the driving electromotor of this window regulator.
  • If the window regulator does not work from both switches, remove the panel of an internal upholstery from this door and check existence of tension both on the switch, and on the driving motor (at the relevant position of the switch) (see an accompanying illustration).

  • For an assessment of a condition of the switch check it according to the provided instructions.
  • At serviceable giving of a food on the electromotor separate glass from a window regulator regulator (see. Head Body). Move glass up-down, checking freedom of its moving. Also check serviceability of a condition of a regulator. If the regulator in norm, and glass freely moves in both directions, replace the driving electromotor. At violation of smoothness of movement of components eliminate the found hindrances, grease rubbing knots and replace the damaged details.

The driving electromotor is built in assembly of a regulator of a window regulator, the description of which procedure of removal is provided in Head the Body.

  • If a food on the motor does not move, check on conductivity existence electroconducting on a chain site between switches and motors (in case of need address to schemes of electric connections at the end of the present Chapter). If the contour is equipped with the executive relay, check serviceability of a food and grounding of the last.
  • Having made necessary corrections, repeat check of functioning of window regulators.
