Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (VMT)

The description of procedure provided below is made on the basis of the assumption of correctness of VV installation of candle wires and the ignition distributor. If there is a need of reduction of the engine for VMT for the purpose of correction of position of the distributor, position of the piston in the first cylinder of the engine can be qualitatively defined by a way of tracking of change of kompressionny pressure through a candle opening. Further it is necessary to achieve combination of the corresponding adjusting labels (see paragraph 9).


The highest point of a piston stroke in the cylinder is called as the top dead point (VMT). Strictly speaking, in 4-тактных engines in the course of rotation of a cranked shaft this situation is reached by each of pistons twice: once at the end of a step of compression and the second – at the end of a final step. At performance of settings of phases of a gazoraspredeleniye and installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition in overwhelming majority of cases VMT of the end of a step of compression of the piston (usually the first cylinder) is used.

Need for piston reduction (it) in situation VMT arises sicken such as removal/installation of a camshaft, components of a drive of GRM and the ignition distributor.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that transmission is transferred to neutral situation, then strongly cock the parking brake, or prop up back wheels of the car protivootkatny boots.
2. Disconnect ignition system, having disunited electric sockets of the distributor (see. Head engine Electric equipment).
3. Temporarily put out of action a power supply system (see. Head of the Power supply system and release).
4. Remove spark plugs (see. Head Routine maintenance).
5. Reduction of any of pistons in situation VMT is made by a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft of the engine by one of described below ways. If to take a detached view of the engine in front of (a driving belt), the direction counter-clockwise will be the normal direction of rotation of a cranked shaft. Remember that attempt of a provorachivaniye of a shaft clockwise can lead to violation of adjustments of a gas-distributing belt.
   a) The most effective method is the shaft provorachivaniye in the normal direction for a bolt screwed in an end face of a forward pin by means of a face natural by a ratchet drive;
   b) To save time use of the remote switch of a starter (follow instructions of manufacturers) will allow. As soon as the piston will appear rather close from VMT of the end of a step of compression, the starter stops and further adjustment is carried out by a method described in point (and);
   c) In the presence of the assistant the preliminary provorachivaniye of the engine can be carried out by short breakthroughs from a driver's place under the direction of the operator. The same principle, as described in point (b). Final adjustment, besides, is made manually, by means of a face key (see point and).
6. Remember position of the plug of connection of a candle wire of the first cylinder on a distributor cover. If the plug is not marked, walk on a wire from a candle to a cover and put the corresponding label independently.
7. Uncover the distributor and put it aside (see. Head Routine maintenance).
8. Mark the case in a point directly under the plug of the first cylinder of a cover (see an accompanying illustration).

9. Find adjusting labels on a pulley of a cranked shaft – they should appear located in direct близи from the index. Now, turning a cranked shaft in the normal direction (see paragraph 5), achieve exact combination of a zero label with top of triangular cut of the index (see an accompanying illustration).

10. Now check situation a distributor begunka – it should appear the developed nouse precisely on a label on the case. If the begunok is developed concerning a label on 180 °, therefore, the piston of the first cylinder is in the provision VMT of the end of a final step.
11. To bring the piston into VMT of the end of a step of compression, it is necessary to turn a cranked shaft on one complete revolution (360 °) counter-clockwise. Now the begunok should be developed by a nouse to a label.
12. If all listed above a condition about combination of labels are observed, it is possible to consider a task executed, – the piston of the first cylinder is given in the provision VMT of the end of a step of compression.
13. Now, that serially, as ignition to bring into VMT the remained pistons, it is necessary to put the corresponding labels on a case rim (as it did higher for the plug of connection of the first candle wire). Provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft will be inevitably accompanied by rotation a begunka, which combination of a nouse with the corresponding label and is confirmation on reduction of the corresponding piston in VMT of the end of a step of compression.
